This year, the festival will be held at 1209 Paul Russell Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32301 on September 19th & 20th between the hours of 9AM and 7PM. Festivities will feature over 100 independent artists, both local and abroad, displaying their best original wares. There will be live entertainment showcasing some of the most talented local artists, dancers, filmmakers, poets, designers, musicians, singers and performers, gourmet food, games, a scavenger hunt, a body art show, a fashion show, an art auction, contests and chances to win prizes! The first 200 attendees will receive a free goodie bag. Admission is free to the public and pets are welcome.
“This event offers the perfect opportunity to enrich and rejuvenate Tallahassee, with an art festival in the Fall, before the holiday rush,” says founder Nefetari Dennard. “It also offers many networking opportunities for new and aspiring artists, especially students!” The festival gives artists a community outlet dedicated to their craft, focusing on quality and individuality through several forms of visual and verbal communication. “Being vendors ourselves, we took a large amount of time ensuring that we accommodated all budgets and sizes,” says co-founder Nzinga Dennard. If you are a student, a less established artist, this is your first time thinking about vending at a festival, or you would like to share a booth or table with another artist, they’ve made it exceedingly easy for you to begin your journey into the festival world. They even have a section dedicated to festival tips, tricks, and helpful resources for new and veteran exhibitors alike.
All vendors will be showcasing their most innovative, original work. Freshly harvested honey, handmade soaps, quirky jewelry, handpicked veggies, and soulful solo albums are amongst some of the shopping choices. Each attendee will receive a helpful festival savings book guide that will include festival information, a place to keep notes, the festival map, and savings from festival sponsors and vendors. “This event caters to art lovers, foodies, pet lovers, family, and friends. There is something for everyone,” Nefetari assures, “activity booths to keep little ones occupied while mom shops. The teens can meet with entrepreneurs their own age while looking for clues in the scavenger hunt. College students can network and chow down on tasty eats. Dad can rock out with the band onstage. Grandparents can walk their favorite pets as they speak with the artists or take in a short film on the lawn.”
“Our focus centralizes on building relationships between the community and it’s hidden gems,” says Nzinga. “We would love for festival goers to let us know what they would like to see at the festival so that we can better cater to their needs as well. They can let their voices be heard either on our social media or contact us directly through our website.” As a bonus, The Fuzzy Pineapple pledges to give a portion of the proceeds to community enrichment projects as well as youth sponsorship programs. They encourage you to come out and show your support by shopping small and encouraging the artists to continue their work! The festival is currently accepting applications for vendors, performers, volunteers, and sponsors. For more information about the festivities, you can visit them at http://www.thefuzzypineapple.com
